Examples of questions for students to ask:

  • If I were to choose this major, what topics/things would I be studying, and what are some of the major course requirements?
  • Does this major require a minor? If not, can I still pursue a minor?
  • Are there any specific requirements I would need to meet/complete before I can declare this major or take Junior/Senior classes (ex: completion of specific courses, a GPA requirement, etc.)?
  • Are there opportunities for internships, undergraduate research, study abroad, etc. associated with this major?
  • Is an internship, field experience, etc. required for this major? If so, is there a class associated with this requirement?
  • What skills will this major help me develop?
  • What kinds of jobs/fields of work do students who graduate with this major typically pursue?
  • Is graduate school usually required to work in the fields associated with this major?
  • Is it typical for students to graduate from this major in four years? If so, do you have any recommendations for keeping students on track?
  • Can you recommend activities a student should be pursing while working on completing a degree in this major (ex. Volunteering, work experience, books to read, etc.)?
